Hind Sealant BP pdf1

USES 

  • 1. For repairing cracks and holes in most types of roofing material, guttering downpipes, flashings, valleys and water tanks.
  • 2. Ideal for sealing laps on sheet roofing material cracks in concrete, brickwork and the bedding in deck timber (marine).
  • 3. Can be used for sealing laps of Alcor damp course and flashing.
  • 4. Can also be used to form a coving where a concrete wall meets the floor such as in concrete water tanks.

FEATURES AND BENIFITS

  • 1. Water, acid (mild) alkali (mild), and vermin resistance ensure longer lasting performance in a variety of applications.
  • 2. Applied cold, directly from the container saving you any unnecessary wasted time in healing or mixing with solvents.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be dry, clean and free from grease, wax, oil and any loose or other material, which may inhibit adhesion of putty. Remove loose rust and scale with a wire brush prior to application. Best results are obtained when the surface is dry.

APPLICATION

Apply directly from the cartridge or use a putty knife. For large hole or cracks, apply a layer of Waterproofing Putty around the area to be repaired, then embed a piece of fiberglass reinforced matting into the first layer, then apply second layer.

PRECAUTIONS

  • 1. Flammable. Store in dry place away from open fires, stoves and heaters. Keep lid firmly closed.
  • 2. Intended for external use only.

COVERAGE

Depending on application and porosity of surface, you will need 1 Kg of Hind Sealant BP to fill a joint 25mm x 25mm x 1300mm approximately.

CLEAN UP

Use mineral turps to clean up excess Waterproofing Putty and tools.

USES 

Hind Sealant E is used as sealant for fine cracks in structural members, tile joints, metal joints, sealing holes for complete water tightness etc.

ADVANTAGES

  • 4. Hardens after setting and thus not damaged by sharp objects.

APPLICATION 

Mixing

Entire contents of Comp-A and Comp-B are to be taken on a clean mixing tray and thoroughly mixed by a metallic spatula.

Surface Preparation 

The contact surface between the putty/sealant has to be thoroughly cleaned from all dust, dirt oily or greasy materials and dry. Priming with Hind ERS 21P is required for porous substrate and substrates which are subjected to movement. If cracks are filled with Hind Sealant-E it is to be chiselled for making V groove about 10mm -12 mm deep and wide and to be primed with Hind ERS 21 P before application of sealant. After the sealant is applied it is to be tooled with a sharp knife.

  • 1. Hind Sealant.PPU is recommended for protection of Sealing of expansion, contraction & construction joints in building structure such as Basements, subways, retaining walls, floors, external walls and claddings of high-rise buildings.

  • 4. Sealing of joints in traffic areas such as Bridges, roads and car parking areas.

APPLICATION

Surface Preparation

Preparation of surface is the most important step before application of sealant to get best results and to avoid failure. The joint surface must be dry, free from dust, coatings, bituminous mastics, concrete curing agents, mould release agents, oils, greases and loose particles. Clean the joint surface by wire brush and sanding with emery paper. Remove dust by compressed air or paint brush. Wipe out oil and grease by solvent soaked cloth (such as Xylene, Toluene or Acetone).

Masking Tape

Apply masking tape such as self-adhesive polyethylene, cellophane or cloth tape on both edges of the joint. It is used to improve the neatness of the finished seal by protecting the face edges of the joint. It may be removed immediately after tooling of the sealant.

Mixing 

Two component Hind Sealant.PPU sealant are packed in pre-weighed quantity as per the mixing ratio. Mix the material of individual container first and then mix together and stir it thoroughly to a uniform, homogenous black colour. Mixing can be done manually with spatula / palette knife of special flat stirrer attached to a low speed electric mixer less than 500 r.p.m. Apply the mixed sealant by means of a spatula or by filling into a plastic cartridge which is then placed into the hand held causing gun into the joint.

Tooling and finishing: 

It is desirable that a smooth surface is obtained. Tool the sealant by pressing the puffy knife or flat tool against the sealant surface, moving along the length of the joint. Tooling breaks air bubbles and exposes any air pockets present. Tooling compresses the sealant, thus promoting adhesion to the joint sides. After tooling the masking tape should be removed immediately.

USES

Hind Sealant Primer is used in conjunction with Hind Sealant PS. It is recommended for the surface namely concrete, brickwork, asbestos, cement, gypsum, board, stone, glass, timber, rigid PVC, anodized aluminum, ceramics etc. Primer is not required for Epoxy and Polyester surfaces.

APPLICATION

Prime only on two sides of the property prepared joint surface with Hind Sealant Primer by brush and allow it to cure for minimum 20 minutes. Apply two coats of Hind Sealant Primer at an interval of 30 minutes. After priming is over Hind Sealant PS should be filled in the joints.

COVERAGE

For porous and nonporous surface coverage of   50 – 55 ft2 / Ltr /coat is achieved.

APPLICATION

Priming : Hind Sealant PS primer is recommended for the surface namely concrete, brickwork, asbestos, cement, gypsum board, stone, glass, timber, rigid PVC, anodized aluminum, ceramics etc. Primer is not required for Epoxy and polyester surfaces.

Mixing : Both components are pre-measured. Use a suitable instrument for mixing. Mix for 8 to 10 minutes or until smooth and homogeneous material results. Using a pressure gun install the sealant into the joint without trapping air. Tool-off with a spatula to lightly concave profile. Remove masking tape.

APPLICATION

Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free oil, grease and loose particles. Correct joint depth can be determined by inserting compressible board tightly into the joint. Protect surface with a masking tape.

Flat, Soft or Round Polyethylene backing material should be used for controlling the depth so that sealant is filled as per the specification.

Priming: In most cases high bond strengths can be obtained without use of primer. Prior to application, adhesion testing is recommended to determine the requirement of primer. Contact our technical division for exact type of primer recommendations.

Application: Preparation of the joint and substrate are to be done at first and then backing rod is inserted into the joint to maintain the required depth.  After making a 1” slit near to the crimp at one end of the sausage pack, it is loaded into the applicator barrel (the slit should be out) . The rounded end of the sausage nozzle is placed onto the slit end of the sausage pack and fitted with a retaining ring. The nozzle is now cut as per desired size and shape and is dispensed  with the nozzle tip in contact with the substrate for proper gap filling. The entire material to be used within 24 hours from the time it is cut off. The bonding of the sealant should occur within the first 50% of the skin time. Hind Sealant PU should not be applied over frozen or wet surfaces. Should not be applied over silicone or hybrid products and every care to be taken so that it does not come into contact with alcohol and solvents during curing. Sealant can be tooled off immediately after application to give the desired appearance.
